2. Data We Do Not Collect

UnfriendCheck is built with a privacy-first architecture. We want to be clear about what we do not do:

  • We do not collect, store, or transmit your Facebook data to any server or database.
  • We do not ask for, access, or store your Facebook login credentials (username or password).
  • We do not access your Facebook account on your behalf.
  • We do not store your friend lists, names, or any personal data from your Facebook data export on our servers.
  • We do not sell, share, or transfer any personal data to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

3. How the App Works

UnfriendCheck analyzes your Facebook data export file, which you download directly from Facebook through their official data export tool. The process works as follows:

  • You request and download your Facebook data export (a ZIP file) directly from Facebook's official settings.
  • You upload this file into the UnfriendCheck app on your device.
  • All processing and analysis of this data happens entirely on your device (locally). The data is never uploaded to or processed on any external server.
  • Results and historical snapshots are stored locally on your device using on-device storage only.

4. Local Data Storage

All data processed by the App is stored exclusively on your device. This includes:

  • Friend list snapshots used to compare changes over time.
  • Historical check results (e.g., who unfriended you, new friends).
  • App preferences and settings.

This data is stored using your device's local storage mechanisms and is not backed up to or synced with any external database or cloud service operated by us. You can delete all locally stored data at any time from the App's Settings.

5. Analytics and Diagnostics

We may collect limited, anonymized analytics data to improve the App experience. This may include:

  • General usage patterns (e.g., which features are used most often).
  • App crash reports and performance diagnostics.
  • Device type and operating system version.
  • Preferred language setting.

This analytics data is anonymized, does not include any of your Facebook data or personal friend information, and is used solely for improving the App. We use third-party analytics services (such as Firebase Analytics and Mixpanel) that process this anonymized data in accordance with their own privacy policies.

6. Subscriptions and Payments

UnfriendCheck offers optional in-app purchases and subscriptions to unlock premium features. All payments are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect, process, or have access to your payment information, credit card details, or Apple ID credentials.

Subscription management, billing, and refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with Apple's App Store terms and policies. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your iPhone's Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions.

7. Third-Party Services

The App may integrate with the following third-party services for analytics, attribution, and subscription management:

  • Firebase Analytics — for anonymized usage analytics.
  • Mixpanel — for anonymized event tracking.
  • Superwall — for subscription paywall management.

These services may collect anonymized device and usage information as described in their respective privacy policies. None of these services receive your Facebook data, friend lists, or personal content.

8. Advertising Identifiers

The App may request access to your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) through Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. You will be prompted to allow or deny this request. If denied, no advertising identifier data is collected. This identifier, if permitted, is used solely for attribution purposes to understand how users discover the App.

9. Children's Privacy

UnfriendCheck is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at contact@unfriendcheck.com and we will take steps to address the issue.

10. Data Deletion

Since all your data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times. You can delete all data stored by UnfriendCheck by:

  • Using the “Delete All Data” option in the App's Settings.
  • Uninstalling the App from your device.

Since we do not store any of your personal data on our servers, there is no additional data to request deletion of.

11. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (including under the GDPR for EU residents), you may have the right to:

  • Access information about what data we process about you.
  • Request deletion of any data associated with you.
  • Object to the processing of your data.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Given our privacy-first approach and the fact that your data is processed and stored only on your device, most of these rights are automatically fulfilled by design. For any questions or requests, please contact us at contact@unfriendcheck.com.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
